Xavier Almonte (28) was arrested yesterday, after his roommate, a 71-year-old man, was found stabbed to death in the ashes in an apparently arson in the apartment they shared in The Bronx (NYC).
Police reported that firefighters found the elderly Curtis Austin unconscious after extinguishing the flames in the building on Manor Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood around 4:15 p.m. Saturday. I had three stabs to the neck.
Austin was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Almonte, 28, was arrested Monday morning and charged with murder and arsonsaid the police.
The flames apparently started intentionally on a mattress, according to ABC News. No further information was available. The motive for the deadly attack remained unclear as of yesterday, the New York Post noted.
