The Miami-Dade Florida State Attorney’s Office could file murder charges against the two North Carolina men accused of drugging and raping a Pennsylvania tourist who was later found dead in a South Beach hotel room.
Evoire Collier, 21, and Dorian Taylor, 24, have been detained since March in connection with the death of 24-year-old Christine Englehardt.
At the moment, Collier and Taylor face accusations of sexual assault, robbery and assault.
Investigators contend that on March 18 the duo drugged Englehardt before raping her. Later, his cell phone and credit cards were stolen.
Security camera footage held by authorities shows the men walking with the victim to her hotel that night.
They drugged her with fentanyl and ethanol before raping her, authorities allege
According to the report of the Miami-Dade coroner’s office, the woman died face down and under the influence of fentanyl and ethanol.
The men gave him a green pill similar to oxycodone. After they were arrested, officers confiscated two more pills.
One of the narcotics was examined and the tests showed fentanyl.
“Although the concentration of fentanyl detected is fatal, a component of positional asphyxia, with his face pressing on soft bedding as a result of physical restraint and / or chemical deterioration to facilitate sexual assault,” says the report cited by the NBC network.
According to the detectives in the case, the victim was not able to give her consent.
Collier and Taylor, college roommates, were also in Florida for Spring Break.
The authorities advance the investigation to be able to proceed with the murder charges.
