VOD news brings you the best releases of the week on Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime Video … And as for one reason or another it is not always easy to highlight a release above the rest, see cases like last week, whose only merit to win the header was the name, because the rest… Well, Schmigadoon! singing, which is at least being liked out there.
Apple TV + is the series, yes: Schmigadoon! Is the new series of the video-on-demand service of those of the apple … and surely they will eat some caramel apples.
Out of absurdities, Schmigadoon! It is a series that depends on how you catch it, it can come in very fresh or quite the opposite, since it is a kind of romantic fable in a musical key as well. Personally, I hate musicals, but since the menu for this week is sad, it seemed to me that Schmigadoon! it is at least somewhat different from the usual, although the “plot” itself, if it can be qualified in such a way, is quite visible. If you are an Apple TV subscriber * and you like musicals and light romantic comedies, Schmigadoon! it is being well received by critics.

We continue with HBO, which has long gone unnoticed in these parts on its own merit. But what you would like to do now is go on vacation to a wonderful Hawaiian hotel …
The White Lotus It is the right place, do not hesitate. At least on paper… and on the ground. Who will catch that little beach! The series is another story, because this “witty social satire that follows the adventures of different employees and guests of an exclusive Hawaiian resort”, according to its own description, focuses more on the entanglements of the staff than on the attractions of the place. Be that as it may, it is the training of the week that is best received by critics and has only aired one episode.

Amazon Prime Video releases three novelties this week, although only one is such: a documentary series about the Spanish basketball team. However, what we highlight is …
The second part of the series El Cid, that the platform debuted at the end of last year. You like me? Well, here you have the continuation, which was already filmed. It remains to be known whether Amazon will complete the story of the famous character or not, because it remains his. In summary, El Cid that already exists consists of a fairly successful visual production, a cast that with exceptions defends its roles with dignity, historical and cultural anachronisms of various other people’s shame … At least, the series is entertaining … because it does not last long. With another protagonist he would have won a lot, even taking into account that Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar was a quinqui in his time.

What about Netflix, you ask? The usual: a lot and nothing … or almost nothing that is worth too much. To highlight the sixth season of Peppa Pig, and it is not joke.
However, if there is an exclusive launch of the platform that should be highlighted with its lead and the rigor trailer, even if it is to close the trilogy that we have been announcing for the last three weeks, it is The Street of Terror – Part 3: 1666, third and last part of what was originally sold to us as a horror film of the slasher subgenre. In fact, it is a literary adaptation that goes and what goes. But it is no longer horror, according to Netflix: it is now an “LGBTQ-themed movie” … Anthropologists of the future will unravel these riddles of the present. Or not.
