Attention: spoilers notice for the final episode 6 of “Loki”
The multiverse has come to Marvel. Thanks to “Loki”, the God of Deception series on Disney +, which establishes the consolidation of different universes or branches coexisting in the space-time landscape of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A journey with a clear destination: to lay the foundations, at last, of the main concept that will cover Phase 4 of the study.
Chapter 6 (“All the time. Always.”) Opens with a graphic representation of the creation of time, showing the flow of the sacred timeline that the AVT (Authority of Temporal Variation) protects since the Multiversal War. This, he explains it to us better “the one that remains”(Jonathan Majors), known in the comics as Immortus, a version of Kang the Conqueror. A variant of his, a 31st century scientist, discovered that there were other universes stacked on top of his. Naturally, he came into contact with other variants and for a time there was peace, in which they shared knowledge and technologies to improve their universes. However, some malignant variants they unleashed a multiversal war to want to conquer the worlds. Each variant was intended to protect its own and annihilate that of the adversary, until “the one who remains” used Alioth (the creature from episode 5 that the protagonists face) to isolate the timeline and end the war. So that created the AVT to prevent further ramifications and to ensure that history did not repeat itself, as long as he managed that line.
The twist comes when Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), thirsty for revenge, kill this version of kang, after a very intense fight against Loki who wanted to prevent the temporary collapse. Even so, Sylvie sends Loki back to the AVT after a splendid dramatic conclusion that culminates in a kiss between the two gods. With the timeline unprotected, the multiverse is unleashed, creating thousands and thousands of branches and universes other than the one we know. The series ends with Loki lost in a different AVT, in which nobody recognizes him, and with the confirmation of a second season.
In this way, Marvel Studios opens the door to infinite possibilities in which anything can be possible. But, How will the ending of “Loki” connect with future projects?

“What If …?” / “What would happen if…?” is the next animated television project coming to Disney + on August 11, whose trailer you can see here. Following the premise of the title, will present realities in which the events of the UCM occurred in a different way. What if Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) had undergone the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans)? What if Loki (Tom Hiddleston) was King of Asgard? What if Yondu (Michael Rooker) had taken T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) instead of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt)? With so many branches open at the end of “Loki”, Marvel could present some of them in this series of 10 chapters with confirmed second season. Also, according to Tom Hiddleston in an interview for The Tonight Show, the animated series “sets up a bunch of things in the MCU”.
“Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings” is the next film installment that will arrive on September 3 to movie theaters. Starring Simu Liu, it will deal with the origin of the first Asian superhero in Marvel Studios, so it seems that won’t connect to the multiverse, unless it’s through a post-credits scene that catches us off guard.
The November 5th it’s time to meet the “Eternal”, a new group of superheroes with divine powers, who at first glance, do not have much connection with the consequences of “Loki”. However, in the trailer we can hear the following phrase: “We have observed and guided you. We have helped you progress. And we have seen you accomplish wonders. Over the years, we have never interfered. Up to now.” Why, after so many years in the shadows, without even helping in the fight against Thanos, decide to appear now? The answer of whether it is related to multiversal chaos it’s a mystery, for the moment.
But how do you stay if I tell you that Sylvie unleashing the multiverse may be the reason for the arrival of the expected Spider-Verse? The rumors about a possible grouping between the 3 cinematic Spider-Men (Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland) have been on the air for months. And now, with the timeline exposed, I’d be justified appearance of characters belonging to other universes in the third installment of the wall climber, “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. There are even 2 signings that could confirm the theory: the Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) from the Tobey Maguire trilogy and the Electro (Jamie Foxx) from Andrew Garfield’s second film. It should be remembered that Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will also appear in the film. A few days ago, Marvel Studios announced part of the merchandising with a first look at the two new costumes that Peter will wear, among other things. But regarding leaks, insiders continue to generate expectation with rumors about characters and aspects of the plot of the film that will arrive on December 17.
So we get to March 25, 2022, the first major film production of next year, which will act -almost- as an event. Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch to star in MCU’s first horror movie called “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”. As its name indicates, the multiverse will be the central axis, therefore, we can deduce that will connect directly with the events of the end of “Loki”, whose creator, Michael Waldron works as a screenwriter in the second installment of the Supreme Sorcerer.
In fact, THR has dropped that “it is expected that [Tom] Hiddleston appear in the next Doctor Strange movie ”, although Marvel Studios has not confirmed anything. Seeing Marvel’s most powerful magical beings teaming up would be historical. It should be noted that we will also have the first appearance of the young heroine América Chávez (Xochitl Gomez).
Perhaps we see a Doctor Strange desperate for all the events that Wanda and Loki have produced, looking for a way to repair time and reality itself. Even fans on social media They have spoken about the “Wandavision” post credits scene in which Wanda listens to her children while meditating on her astral form, speculating that it may have happened in the same moment in which the ramifications begin to expand, as if the universes collided. Will we see Wanda looking for her children?
Regarding the fourth installment of the God of Thunder, “Thor: Love and Thunder”, it is more than confirmed that for the first time, Loki will not appear in a movie of this saga. On the other hand, they will show us how Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) acquires the legendary hammer while Christian Bale will debut as the villain Gorr, the Butcher of Gods. Therefore, not seem that it is going to have a meaningful connection with the multiverse. Scheduled to premiere on May 6, 2022.
Traveling to February 17, 2023, we will have “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”, the film that, with certainty, will present Kang the Conqueror, since Jonathan Majors was signed months ago (which is why it was rumored that he would appear in “Loki”). It is surely one of the variants malignant of Kang not shown yet or, depending on the second season of “Loki” and its chronological position, it could continue the events of this one. Hardly anything is known about the film but, a priori, it seems to venture great things for the MCU. Could we get to see different variants of Kang over the years in various products?
The series “Hawkeye” and “Ms. Marvel ”will be origin stories for Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) and Kamala Khan (Imán Vellani) correspondingly and it does not seem that they will have much connection with the multiverse. They are scheduled to premiere at the end of the year. Other projects from 2022 and 2023 such as “Moon Knight”, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, “She-Hulk”, “The Marvels”, “Guardians of the Galaxy: Christmas Special”, “Blade”, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 “,” Secret Invasion “,” Ironheart “,” I Am Groot “and” Armor Wars “, still consist of a lack of information that makes it difficult to theorize about whether they will address the multiversal issue.
For the moment it is unknown Any kind of information about Season 2 of the God of Deception, the only thing we know is that, very interesting things are coming. As Loki introduced the main villain of the first three phases in 2012, Thanos, and to the main topic, infinity gems, now re-introduce a villain key code and to concept through which the UCM will rotate in the coming years. Glorious purpose!
And you? How do you think multiversal mayhem will affect upcoming series and movies?
All the chapters of “Loki” are available on Disney +.
