Mat George, the star of the “She Rates Dogs” podcast, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident in California, his co-host confirmed.
Her co-host Michaela Okland revealed her death on Twitter. She wrote:
“I’d rather you hear this from me than a news article. Mat died last night in a hit and run. I really have no other words at the moment. I would like to be able to get in touch with everyone who knows him personally, but the news is already available and I cannot do it at this time ”.

George was also an influencer on Twitter and Instagram, where he used the user, @matchu_chutrain. On LinkedIn, he wrote: “Social media savvy with advanced sales and customer service experience. Proficient in taking numerical results and analyzing them to calculate their meaning. Experience with independent ads and use of analytics to determine how many potential customers are reaching. Exceptional knowledge of trends on all social platforms. Great experience in direct relationships with clients and clients to ensure absolute satisfaction ”.
He described the She Rates Dogs podcast this way: “Co-host a podcast on dating, relationships and current social issues,” and said he had held the position for just over a year.

George was run over on July 16 in Los Angeles
The Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed that Mathew George died on the street on July 17, 2021. He was 26 years old.
According to Today, George “was hit in an accident and on the run early Saturday morning in the Beverly Grove neighborhood of Los Angeles.” The investigation is still active, Today reported.
According to CBS Los Angeles, George was hit around 2:20 a.m. by a white BMW. It was a pedestrian “walking south on Croft Avenue,” the television station reported, adding that it was not in a marked crosswalk and the BMW fled the scene.
George’s last tweet was a retweet of Okland’s tweet on July 16 that read: “Mat said Nick Jonas looks better with facial hair so now they will cancel it out of body embarrassment. Loving this ”.
That same day, he shared the photo above. The day before, he tweeted: “Thinking how dangerous it would be if I didn’t have the hips of an 83-year-old.”
His latest Instagram post read: “In a city full of phonies, I’m not afraid to be me.”
Before the podcast, he worked as a “scribe” in Arizona for the OrthoArizona offices. “Tasks include collecting a variety of patient information, including vital signs, patient history, and patient history of illness in a timely manner. I worked closely with other employees in the office to ensure a satisfactory patient experience, ”he wrote.
