TOKYO, Jul 19 (.) – Japan’s Nintendo “has no plans” to launch a new model of its Switch video game console beyond the screen upgrade announced this month, the company said on Monday in an unusual public denial afterward. of press reports.
The $ 349.99 OLED Nintendo Switch will go on sale on October 8, in the second-biggest update to the console lineup.
Before the launch announcement, Bloomberg reported that the Switch upgrade would improve the central processing unit (CPU) and have 4K output. The new model does not include either upgrade, leading to speculation about a future release of the console.
The Kyoto-based company, which is the center of intense media speculation, said on Twitter that it “has no plans to launch other models at this time.”
Nintendo also denied a Bloomberg report that said the updated model would offer higher profit margins. “We want to clarify that this statement is incorrect,” the company said.
