An element that caught the attention of the fans was that during the promotion of “Loki” commented that “The Teletubbies” were among the influences of the Marvel Studios series. This was associated at first on the part of the fans to the presence of Miss Minutes, but in the end it was not so clear that they were referring to that. Now the director takes us out of doubts.
During a new interview, Kate herron has clarified what they were referring to when they placed the Teletubbies as an influence, to point out that they only referred to the aesthetic aspect of one of the moments of the series. The filmmaker wanted replicate the scenario of the Teletubbies when they created The Void for the penultimate episode.
I haven’t talked about this yet, but the reference to the Teletubbies was episode 5. I wanted it to the Void felt like some kind of covered garden, because it is like a forgotten place. Essentially, I had proposed the British countryside because it looks a lot like that, but I remember talking to ILM, who we were doing the effects with, and they said, ‘Well, what are you thinking?’ I couldn’t think, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, you know what it is? It’s like the Teletubbies, it’s like the rolling hills of dystopia, and that’s what we’re going to do. ‘ But it is not sunny, it has this kind of fog. And that’s how the Teletubbies came into the series.
A revelation that solves the doubt but at the same time leaves us with a strange taste in our mouths, since possibly the majority of fans imagined that that inspiration was going in another direction, not so much for the El Vacío stage.
