The second round of the Champions League qualifying round had its first stake yesterday with few surprises. PSV Eindhoven beat Turkish Galatasaray while Olympiacos struggled more than expected to win against Azerbaijani champions Neftchi PFC. It did not go from 1-0.
PSV had a feast against the Turkish team in what appeared to be one of the most even playoffs. Nothing is further from the truth, Zahavi signed a record of honor with two goals in the first 45 minutes and a third, to complete the hat-trick, in the final stretch of the match. In addition, an assistance was recorded. Those of Eindhoven won 5-1 at home with another protagonist. Mario Götze signed a double.
It was harder for Olympiacos who left the door open for the return with a lone goal from Camara.
For the rest of the day, Kairat Almaty beat Red Star at home with a Bagnack goal with ten minutes to go. Swedish Malmö also beat Finnish HJK 2-1. Ludogorets and Musa left everything for the return after the scoreless draw, the same result for the Young Boys. Warsaw won ‘in extremis’ with a goal in discount.
