Monza to host second F1 sprint race

The Italian Grand Prix on Monza in September it will host the second sprint race of the F1 World after the experimental format made its debut on Silverstone last weekend, as announced by the organization on Thursday.

The 100km sprint takes place on Saturday to determine the grid for Sunday’s main race, so the usual qualifying session is moved to Friday. The aim is to give the fans competitive action during the three days of the Grand Prix, with more excitement.

Monza is 5,793 km long, so the sprint is expected to be 18 laps at the fastest circuit on the calendar. F1 pointed out that the sprint race will be held on September 11 at 4.30 p.m.
