Barça is still waiting to tie a point guard and a ‘3’ although it is also following the movements of Croatian Mario Hezonja, who left the Barça club to go to the NBA.
In the middle of last season he decided to return to Europe with Panathinaikos. But he does not follow him with the intention of signing him but to charge for the rights he has of the player in Europe.
The club Greek had made him an offer for two years, for an amount of two million dollars, but finally, the player has decided not to accept it.
Agreement with UNICS
And it is that according to the NBAManiacs website, the Croatian player has reached an agreement with the Russian UNICS Kazan, citing a Croatian media, who reported the agreement.
UNICS has Velimir Perasovic as coach, with whom he already coincided in the Croatian national team in 2015 when he managed it, and now he has bet heavily on his signing, which surely clearly increases the figure that Panathinaikos offered him.
Hezonja, 26, was trained in the Blaugrana quarry and made his debut with the first team in 2012. In the ACB he did so in 2013 after signing a three-year contract with Barça. In March 2014, he obtained his scoring record in ACB, scoring 26 points in 20 minutes against BAXI Manresa
From Barça to the NBA
Although at the end of the 2014-15 season and after being chosen in the Draft by the Orlando Magic, he reached a separation agreement with the Barça club, what he retained his rights in case of return to Europe.
Hezonja returned in the middle of last season with Panathinaikos, on loan from Barça and without receiving the agreed money. But now, if his signing is confirmed by UNICS, Barça will claim the 400,000 euros, either from the player’s pocket or from the Russian club.
