Today is Thursday, July 22 and these are the main news of the day:
.- In an exclusive interview, former President Donald Trump sent a message of solidarity to the Cuban people and revealed that his administration never contemplated a military intervention in Cuba because they did not think it was necessary, since they could achieve the end of the dictatorship with easier and more accurate methods.
.- Minutes after the interview was published, the Florida Democratic Party described Trump’s comments on the current situation on the island as hypocritical and selfish. On the other hand, several Republican leaders attended a panel on Cuba, in which criticism of the White House’s response to the crisis on the island was again heard.
.- 4 weeks after the tragedy in Surfside, new images were released of what the site of the collapse now looks like: an empty and desolate space, where hundreds of people used to live and where search and rescue teams clashed to a mountain of rubble trying to find survivors.
.- The number of new COVID-19 cases in the United States tripled in the last two weeks. The Delta variant complicated the situation, again putting critical pressure on the hospital sector. The Jackson health system revealed that 91% of new hospitalizations are not vaccinated.
.- A huge Cuban flag is already one of the murals that are part of the Wynwood landscape. The flag is 180 feet long by 30 feet high and was painted by 12 artists. It is located on 24th Street and Fifth Avenue in that Miami neighborhood, famous for its paintings and graffiti.
