Samsung aims to expand folding screen production capacity by almost 50%, according to The Korea Economic Daily. Specifically, the company would expand the manufacture of its smartphones with flexible OLED panels, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3, by up to 25 million, compared to the current 17 million units. Therefore, it represents an increase of 47%.
To achieve this goal, Samsung will expand its Bac Ninh plant in Vietnam throughout this year. This will allow the company to increase production to 10 million displays for the Galaxy Z Fold range and 15 million for the Galaxy Z Flip year. The aforementioned source ensures that the reason for this expansion is caused by the excellent demand for the new Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, its latest folding smartphones.
Samsung, remember, announced a few weeks ago that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 outnumbered the Galaxy Note. The latest reports assure that in South Korea the company has come to sell in advance more than 920,000 units of its two new folding, surpassing the anticipated orders of the Galaxy S21 series. In China, the number of reserves increases by up to 1 million. The sale of its previous folding smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip, barely reached 2 million units.
The success of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3
The new Samsung folding stands out for their flexible screens, but also for their design and specifications. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 looks like the most popular model and the one that monopolizes, therefore, a greater volume of production with respect to its older brother. This smartphone features a 6.7-inch flexible screen that folds in half, providing nothing more than the ability to make the terminal more compact in your pocket. Its elegant appearance and water resistance are other strengths of this model.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 stands out, on the other hand, for being a terminal more focused on productivity. Samsung’s flagship features a 7.6 inch flexible OLED displayas well as a 6.2-inch exterior screen. Its price is considerably higher than the “shell-type” folding one, but it includes more powerful and innovative features, such as an under-screen camera or the possibility of using the characteristic S-Pen of the Galaxy Note.
