The app Google clock seems to have a bug that prevents configured alarms from sounding correctly. In a Reddit thread, several members of a Google Pixel, the smartphone on which the app is installed by default, noticed that the terminal showed a missed alarm notification, but it never sounded.
The most recent opinions of Google Play Store, where users can download the application and install it on their Android devices, also warn of this failure. “The alarms have stopped ringing, it does not matter if you have the default tones of the mobile phone or Spotify. All that appears is a notification saying ‘lost alarm'”, says a holder of a Google Pixel smartphone.
Users believe that the problem is caused by integration with Spotify and, specifically, when setting tones with music from this service. Remember, the Google Clock app allows you to add alarms with music from the Spotify library. In this way, it is possible to wake up to a song or music from an album or a playlist. However, the ruling also affects those people who have a predetermined ringtone set.
A portal called Piunikaweb that has echoed this problem, suggests that the bug is related to the ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode. Apparently, many users reported in late August that the alarms did not sound when this mode is activated. The ‘Do Not Disturb’ feature prevents notifications, calls or other alerts from ringing. Alarms, however, should sound.
Google is aware of the bug in the Clock app and is working to fix it
Google, at the moment, has not found a solution to this failure, but the development team is aware of this error and ensures that they are already working to solve it. “We have shared this with our engineering and product teams and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available,” comments an employee via Google’s incident tracking system.
In the aforementioned Reddit thread they comment on some workarounds, although they don’t seem to work for all of them. Between them, remove app cache and storage.
Another option is download a third-party alarm app. There are many options available on Google Play. If you do not have a Pixel mobile but you use the Google Clock app, it is best to uninstall it and use the default application on your smartphone.
