The UCM it is one of the most ambitious projects in history. With ups and downs, the franchise has delivered hours of pure entertainment that generally satisfies comic book fans. However, many consider that the association with Disney it ended up affecting stories that are now perceived as more youthful and with little room for the violence so common on paper. For example, not everyone appreciated what was done in Thor: Ragnarok – 92%, and certainly not everyone enjoys the Guardians of the Galaxy comedy – 91% and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – 82%.

The series of Disney + they achieved this perception better. WandaVision – 95% showed us the states of the duel and its end was very emotional and mature. Falcon and the Winter Soldier – 97% tried to rescue the seriousness and political themes of Captain America: The Winter Soldier – 89%, and gave us an exemplary scene with the Captain’s shield full of blood. For his part, Loki – 96% had moments of comedy, but that go perfectly with the famous character and his last episode opened many possibilities for him UCM. Finally we have What If …? – 84% whose most recent chapter, starring Doctor Strange, ended on a really dark and macabre note.
Little by little, the balance is better balanced, and that is because films have the defect of needing to insure a certain audience in order to obtain the billions to which they are accustomed. That is, the tapes must follow certain patterns of the big blockbusters to maintain their success. But that doesn’t mean Marvel Don’t be trying to reach more complex horizons, where comedy is no longer a low point in your stories. The series of Moon knight may be the key to achieving this. With actors like Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, and Gaspard Ulliel, it is clear that a particular quality is sought in the cast that is quite a departure from action titles. Isaac has indeed crossed over to other universes, such as Star wars, but he is best known for his achievements in independent film, such as in Balada de un Hombre Común – 94%.
The nature of this character, created by the writer Doug moench and the artist Don perlin, is quite different from other heroes than the UCM has already featured us in canon. For starters, the protagonist was first introduced as a minor villain who grabbed the spotlight and was reborn as a superhero for other installments. Marc spector was a marine who becomes a mercenary and ends up digging up the grave of Khonshu, God of the moon. At the moment of his death, the god offers to bring him back to life and give him a second chance in exchange for being his avatar on Earth. This is how it was born Moon knight and his various alter egos, like the millionaire Steven Grant, which serves as a facade to the world, and the taxi driver Jack lockey, which allows you to find information from the criminal world.

This kind of life and the fact that Moon knight faces thieves, assassins and demonic forces alike, they make him a very promising character for him UCM. It has long been said over and over again that this series will be much more mature and will touch on themes of psychological disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder and multiple personalities. So where does the classic Marvel comedy go? Mohamed Diab, director of the series, explained to The Hollywood Reporter his approach to Moon knight:
My films are tough, serious, and heavily themed, and I firmly believe that Moon Knight will be like that. It will be entertainment, but it will also be heavy. We are, at the same time, being very creative with the jokes and the action.
Diab, who was born in Egypt, will be the first director from the Middle East to take control of a project from the UCM. He is best known for tapes like The Gezeira, which is about a drug dealer; Cairo 678, which tells the story of three women who become vigilantes to confront sexual assaults in their country; and Clash – 92%, which shows a failed revolution.
For now we do not have so many news about Moon knight as fans would like, but it is known that the series will have 6 episodes and a couple of chapters will be directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, best known for their cosmic horror films Resolution and The Endless – 100%. Jeremy Slater was in charge of adapting Moon knight and he will be the lead writer. Slater has a good record with shows like The Umbrella Academy – 93% and The Exorcist – 78%, which no one expected would be a success and ended up enchanting the fans of the original film and the followers of the genre. If everything goes well, Moon knight It will premiere sometime in 2022.
