For practical purposes, we all know that Iron Man – The Iron Man – 93%, directed by Jon Favreau and starring Robert Downey Jr., marked the beginning of the renowned UCM. Marvel He risked a lot with this project as a production company with the idea of developing adaptations of those characters whose rights returned home. The success of the film and the potential of a franchise caught the attention of Disney, who bought the brand and was in charge of deliveries. However, the complex history of Marvel began long before all this with the film Blade, starring Wesley Snipes.

This adaptation of the vampire hunter superhero, directed by Stephen Norrington, became quite a success, helping to lift the brand and shake off prejudice against black leads. Many take Spider-Man – 89% Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi or X-Men – 81% of Bryan Singer as the first firm steps of Marvel, but Blade It debuted in 1998 and literally saved the company from bankruptcy by raising $ 131 million worldwide. What’s more, Blade it was released after Batman & Robin – 11%, a project that for many meant the decline of superheroes in the cinema. The Snipes film had a perfect blend of action and maturity that made significant gains to secure its trilogy, which ended in 2004.
Although the aftermath of Blade They were not so well received by the specialized critics, they did obtain a large box office and it was Snipes himself, and all his personal affairs, which ended the saga. In fact, the actor was not so drawn to this role in the first place, he had met with Marvel to adapt Black panther, but in the end it was decided that the pitch of screenwriter David S. Goyer, also known for writing Batman Begins – 84% and Batman: The Dark Knight – 94% was more interesting and had a high chance of being a success. David Fincher even got involved in the script because he was going to be a director, but in the end he had to leave and Norrington took over the project.
Blade It definitely has a wide fan base, but the movie was buried among so many other premieres over the years. Also, the character himself is not so well known to those who are not experts in comics and many do not know that he belongs to Marvel. Of course, this point is not something that followers miss and this became very clear after a post on twitter went viral:
Just a friendly reminder that without Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and the X-Men movies… we would never have had the MCU.

To the fans of Blade it took them only a few seconds to correct this post:
Blade laid the foundation for everything we see in the MCU. Wesley brought Marvel back to life. Put some respect in the name of Wesley Snipes.

It was Blade from Wesley Snipes. Marvel was bankrupt and had to sell its most important properties. Blade was a last-ditch effort to save the studio. Blade’s success paved the way for Iron-Man and the MCU. If it weren’t for Wesley Snipes, the MCU wouldn’t exist.
It was Wesley Snipes’ Blade. Marvel was bankrupt & sold off all major properties. Blade was a last ditch effort to save studio from closure. The success of Blade paved way for Iron Man & MCU. If not for Wesley Snipes, There’d be no MCU. 🤦🏽♂️ https://t.co/zYEYMssmkN

Blade was the movie that made Marvel what it is. Wesley Snipes deserves more credit than he gets. Marvel didn’t have a hit movie, show, or series before Blade. Wesley Snipes is the Greatest of All Time. Nobody can tell me something different.
Blade is the movie that made Marvel studios what it is. Wesley Snipes deserves more credit than he is given. Marvel didn’t have a successful movie, show or series before Blade. Wesley Snipes is the goat. No one can tell me different

We need a time when people no longer need to be reminded or corrected that Wesley Snipes in Blade is what the MCU gave us. Wesley Snipes saved Marvel from bankruptcy.

People show a lot of respect for Blade and Wesley Snipes because no matter how you put it, Blade walked so the MCU and Sony Marvel movies could run afterward. Yep, a 1990s adult-rated Marvel superhero movie with a black lead, which was successful. Stop giving credit to white actors.

Wesley Snipes really saved Marvel as an entity. The man should get royalties or something for what he did for the movie universe.

Despite all these comments defending Blade, the account that published the original image defended itself for not including this title:
The only reason Blade isn’t here is because it wasn’t as successful as Spider-Man or X-Men … and Kevin Feige worked closely with Sam Raimi (the director of the Spider-Man trilogy) and took notes and so on. .
The only reason Blade isn’t on here is because it wasn’t as big of a hit as Spider-Man or X-Men … and Kevin Fiege worked very closely with Sam Raimi (the Spider-Man trilogy director) and he took notes and shit.

Of course, new responses to this post made you notice your mistake, as Blade it remained one of the greatest hits of that year.
Thanks to Blade has become a cult movie, many were hoping to see the return of Wesley snipes in some late sequel or reboot within the UCM. Unfortunately, this will not be the case. The character will be part of the UCM, but Mahershala Ali will be the one who will bring it to life now under the direction of Bassam Tariq, although the project is still in pre-production and we do not know when its premiere is planned.
