The Lille, Sevilla’s rival in the Champions League, moved away from the top of the table, after fall this Friday by 2-1 in his visit to the field of Lorient, in a meeting in which the “bulldogs” once again exhibited their defensive problems. In little or nothing this Lille reminds the team that last year was proclaimed French League champion ahead of the all-powerful Paris Saint-Germain, especially in defense. If last season the “bulldogs” closed the season with only twenty-three goals against, this campaign accumulated in just five days almost half, eleven, after the two goals conceded this Friday during their visit to the Moustoir stadium.
A defensive weakness which was evident in the seven minutes in the play that gave rise to the first goal for Lorient, an action by the Nigerian attacker Terem Moffi, who in a show of power entered the area between three defenders to assist Armand Lauriente which established the 1-0.
Lille seemed to react with the tying goal, the work of the Turk Burak yilmaz, who transformed a penalty (1-1) committed on himself in the 25th minute, but the initiative of the match corresponded to the locals. And that Jocelyn Gourvennec’s men, who replaced Christophe Gaultier on the “bulldogs” bench this summer, had the occasional good chance in the second half from set pieces. Scares that did not diminish the dominance of a Lorient, who found a reward for his greatest ambition with three minutes remaining with the goal (2-1) of the Nigerian Moffi who went ahead of the entire Lille defense to send a center from the left by Vincent Le Goff to the nets.
A victory that allowed the “merlus” to climb to fourth place in the standings, while Lille, which has only been able to win one league game, was relegated to tenth position.
