It seems that the reign of simultaneous premieres in movie theaters and streaming platforms is losing steam. Their initial objective was to find an alternative so that the programmed films would not suffer delays due to the pandemic still present, and now that the movie theaters have reduced capacity, it seemed a better idea for others to have the opportunity to see the premieres from home. .
Subscribe here to Disney Plus
At first it sounded like the best idea, but over the months it proved to be counterproductive from an economic perspective. It was clear that with the limited capacity the worldwide box office revenues would decline, but the fact that an entire family could see the film with a single subscription was something that apparently was not taken into account. So far it seems that HBO Max has not had a major problem, although its premieres did have significant drops.
But the most notorious case for its conflicts is that of Disney Plus, especially because it reached an important demand by Scarlett Johansson, protagonist and producer of Black Widow – 87%, who pointed out the breach of their contract by the company, where a large part of their profits would be reflected in the income of the international box office, which had a sharp fall in just one week of exhibition.
With Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings – 95%, the executives decided to do the “experiment” of releasing it exclusively in cinemas to analyze the impact this would have on their income, and now that it entered its second exhibition weekend, it exceeded everyone’s expectations, already breaking several world box office records with a cumulative total of about USD $ 162 million.

The film will have to solve many doubts that have now arisen among fans of the MCU.
Starring Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry and Don lee, Eternals will feature a race of aliens created by the Celestials (to which Peter Quill’s father belonged according to what was seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – 82%) with different abilities each, and with a very close relationship to humanity.

Although this is good news for future releases, it does not generate any kind of change in the current demand it faces. Scarlett Johansson against Disney, as its legal team has made important accusations from describing this as a case of misogyny to the possibility that the company has used the Marvel Studios tape just to get more subscribers using the COVID 19 virus as a simple pretext.
