Philippe Coutinho will return to Barcelona this summer. Bayern Munich, through Karl Heinz Rummenigge, has confirmed that the term for the purchase option by the Brazilian has expired and they have not executed it. The German team had to pay an amount of 120 million to stay on property with the midfielder, a figure that has not convinced the Germans.

«The option has expired and we have not exercised it, now we will have to complete the planning of the squad for next season and we’ll see if the player can still have a role to play with us or not, ”Karl Heinz Rummenigge, CEO of Bayern Munich, told the German newspaper Der Spiegel.

In this way he did not close the door to the midfielder, but in any case he did not at the price Barcelona expected to charge: 120 million, number that the Catalans paid to Liverpool (without taking into account bonuses) in January 2018, making Coutinho the most expensive signing in the history of the Catalan club and that the Germans had to pay to take it in property.

In his short adventure in Germany, Coutinho has participated in 32 games, with nine goals and eight assists. The Brazilian, injured at the moment, will return this summer to Barcelona waiting to get a place in Quique Setien’s plans or for the club to find a new destination for the former Liverpool player, being a possible currency in the several open fronts that Barcelona has on the market.
