The President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, has announced a new extension of the quarantine until June 7 after a visible increase in the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country.

In a press conference this May 23, Fernández explained that the Mandatory Preventive Social Isolation System, established to prevent infections, will continue in force. He also stressed that movement permits must be requested again and are only rolled back for essential workers.

The Argentine Ministry of Health reported this Saturday that during the last day there were 12 new deaths from covid-19 and 704 new cases of infection, bringing the total number of infected to 11,353 and that of the deceased to 445.
