By order of the President of Guatemala, Alejandro Giammattei, the Central American country will enter total quarantine from 5:00 p.m. on this Friday and until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 25 as a preventive measure to contain the covid-19 infections in the country, the president reported on Thursday through his Twitter account.

Similarly, Giammattei reminded the population that local businesses will remain closed and only “those who are within the exceptions duly identified may circulate.”

So far, Guatemalan health authorities have reported a total of 2,743 SARS-CoV-2 infections and the number of deaths related to the virus is 51.
