Two Hispanic men who fled the Florence, Colorado federal prison were detained in southern Arizona by Border Patrol agents on Wednesday night, according to authorities.

José Rodríguez, Raúl Guzmán and a woman who was driving the vehicle initially told customs agents that they were illegally in the United States and that they wanted to be returned to Mexico immediately, according to a Border Patrol press release.

After further questioning by
officers, the men admitted that they were U.S. citizens and that
they had escaped from a prison in Colorado. Both were detained alongside the
woman who at the moment has not been identified by the authorities.

José Rodríguez, 35, and Raúl Guzmán, 42, were serving sentences of several years for possession and distribution of drugs.
