The mother of the autistic boy who was found dead in Miami-Dade after being allegedly kidnapped, was arrested early Saturday morning.

According to Miami-Dade Prison Department records, Patricia Ripley, 45, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder

The body of her nine-year-old son, Alejandro Ripley, was found Friday morning, hours after an amber alert was issued to locate him.

Miami-Dade police confirmed that a boy’s body was found floating in a lake in the southwest 62nd street and 128th court area. Aerial images showed the body near the Miccosukee Golf & Country Club.

Police showed up Thursday night at the Home Depot parking lot at 15750 Southwest 88th Street in Kendall after receiving the report that Alejandro Ripley had been kidnapped.

The boy’s mother told authorities that she was driving in her vehicle with the minor on Southwest 88th Street when she noticed that another vehicle was following her.

Patricia Ripley said the driver of the vehicle forced her to pull over to one side on 158th Avenue and blocked her path. According to her, a man in the passenger seat got out and demanded that he give him drugs. Then, according to her, he stole her cell phone and took the boy in the other vehicle.

The press was able to record the video of the time that Patricia Ripley was taken in handcuffs inside the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Police have not confirmed the arrest, but prison records indicate that Ripley is being held without bond.
