New York —

Cells linked to this criminal group have recently stripped peasants of their properties

In the face of harassment Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), community members of Santa María Ostula, in the Municipality of Aquila, Michoacán, took up arms as a group of self-defense groups.

“Due to the current situation that the State of Michoacán is going through, once again in Tierra Caliente the armed self-defense movement resurfaces to care for its towns and guarantee the safety of its inhabitants,” the town said in a position.

“Currently the terror, fear, deaths and uneasiness of the population is being generated by the CJNG, as well as in previous years by the criminal group of the Knights Templar.”

The message was released on May 2, just a couple of days after the resurgence of the self-defense groups was announced in Tepalcatepec’s main garden.

In Ostula, it was accused that murders, massacres, beheaded and enforced disappearances have escalated.

“It will not allow the dark interests of criminal groups like the CJNG to destabilize the region and exacerbate violence against the population,” they said.

“For what has been stated above, our indigenous community of Santa María Ostula joins in support of the State and Federal Government in their actions against this Cartel, and we also make a great appeal to the comrades in struggle of the towns and municipalities of region to unify efforts ”.

The Reforma newspaper published last Friday that residents of Tierra Caliente, in Michoacán, alerted that armed groups evicted about 120 families from their homes in various locations in the Municipality of Parácuaro.

The commandos, the affected families told the newspaper, arrived in trucks with the initials CZNJ (Zicuirán Nueva Generación Cartel), a cell linked to the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), which fights the plaza against Los Viagras.

The CZNJ, allegedly led by Miguel Ángel Gallegos Godoy, “Migueladas” or “El Señor de Zicuirán”, announced on May 14 their “emergence” through a video broadcast on social networks.

“We give a respectful warning to the Armed Forces, especially to the Mexican Army: to refrain from invading La Huacana and our area, which is perfectly delimited by our boys,” said one of the men in the video.

“We have made efforts to close and shield La Huacana, Zicuirán, Tumbiscatío, Arteaga, Las Cruces and Nueva Italia, we are not responsible for their safety,” added the subject surrounded by armed men.
