New York health authorities have installed a makeshift morgue in the same location that was used during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, near the Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, to manage the possible increase in the number of deaths from COVID -19.
In the area there are two refrigerated trucks and a team with military clothing and masks that has helped to assemble the device, which also has several white tents.
The set-up has been overseen by members of the New York Police Department and the forensic medicine office, local media reported.
It is expected that this scene will soon be the usual one in other hospitals throughout the city, so that in the next few days more refrigerated trucks and tents will begin to arrive.
At the moment, New York is the epicenter of the coronavirus crisis in the United States, with figures that are statistically continuing the progression that other large cities affected by the virus, such as Madrid or Milan, have undergone.
