Spain reported a record death toll from the new coronavirus on Friday, with 769 deaths in the past 24 hours, but an official said the pace of new infections was slowing down.
In total, in Spain, COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, has killed 4,858 people, among the 64,059 infected.
In the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Friday that he tested positive for the new coronavirus.
Johnson indicated, however, that he will continue to lead the national response to the outbreak.
The leader underwent the test after showing mild symptoms, his office explained.
